Proposed Revision - 12 March 2009 Preamble We, the Republican Party of the Great State of Utah do uphold and defend our Original Constitution, including the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence as written by our God inspired American Founders. We believe that our unalienable rights come from our Creator, not the government. The Proper Role of Government The proper role of government is to protect and serve the public, not hinder or harass them. Our American Founders wanted limited government especially on the federal level, with only 20 enumerated powers. Our Founders wanted a “strict” interpretation of the Constitution by the Supreme Court, not a “flexible” or “elastic” interpretation. America was never founded to become a “Welfare State”, which we have now become, under the banner of so-called “progressive” (Marxist) ideology. We the Republican Party declare our opposition to this corrupt, debilitating, and crippling welfare movement. Our Founders wanted self-reliance, not government reliance. We, the Republican Party of the Great State of Utah, declare our sovereignty over the federal government (10th amendment) and strive to cut off the umbilical cord of pork barrel projects, earmarks, entitlement programs, special interests, federal edicts and federal aid; including how our local schools should be managed and funded. The federal government is not the solution to problems facing our state and nation! They are the cause of our problems! In fact, Washington D.C. is the problem and should be allowed to collapse under it’s own weight of too many Band-Aids! The states can manage just fine on their own, with out their help! Right to Life We uphold and defend the Declaration of Independence that insures each person regardless of race, gender, religious belief, or creed, to the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; including the ownership of property. Equality We were never created to have equal things or talents. However, we were created to be equal under God, equal under the Bar of Justice and equal in our Rights. Self Defense We declare the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Government permits of any kind, guns and ammunition registration is unconstitutional and is one step closer to total government control of our lives. Education is the answer, not government permits and extra taxes the government calls “fees.” National Defense We support a strong federal Military and National Guard, a strong FBI and CIA. We must promote goodwill and trade with other countries, but entangling alliances with none. Peace through strength, said George Washington the greatest President America has ever known. Prosperity Economics We realize that free enterprise is the key to our prosperity and economic freedom, and government, at any level, should never compete with free enterprise. As Adam Smith explained in his book, The Wealth of Nations: free enterprise should have the freedom to Try, Buy, Sell and Fail. The only time governments could legislate restrictions on free enterprise would be if free enterprise used: Illegal Force, Fraud, Monopoly or Debauchery in selling their goods and services. Family Values We, affirm that the natural family is the foundation for a strong, happy, healthy and responsible society. Parents and/or legal guardians have the unalienable right to choose: how, what curriculum, and where, they want their children taught, without local, state or federal guidelines. Freedom of Religion We will uphold and defend the 1st amendment as intended by our Founders that freedom of religion should not be infringed. In part, Republicans in the Great State of Utah should start restoring Christian holiday’s such as Christmas and Easter, openly in our communities and our schools, having universal prayers in all schools, posting of the Ten Commandments, both in public and private facilities; not excluding other religions and their traditions, beliefs and celebrations. We affirm that America was founded as a Christian Nation, but at the same time, our Founders encouraged all other religions to practice their various religions as they saw fit, as long as they didn’t promote hatred, harm to women and children, or promote the killing of the innocent. The Separation of State Doctrine was to insure that all religions were promoted in America not just one. They did not want America to have a State Religion such as the Church of England, Catholicism and etc. Contrary to popular belief, they did in fact; want Christianity of all faiths promoted throughout our great Republic! If this means challenging the Supreme Court again, to restore those lofty principles, so be it! Freedom of Speech Political correctness in our modern-day America, translates into restricting freedom of speech. The second part of the 1st amendment: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to peaceably assemble, and petition the government for redress of grievances, also needs to be honored and upheld. Energy and Environment Our Creator is in charge of our planet, not puny man. He created our earth to expand, to shrink, cool down and to heat up. He put oil, gas, coal, tar sands, the tides of the sea, and the power of the wind, in and on the earth to be used as energy sources as we need them. America needs them now. Therefore, we as Republicans must demand that those powers in Washington D. C. start promoting the drilling for oil, offshore and within our boarders, plus developing other alternatives for energy. We should no longer be dependant on foreign sources for our fuel. Everyone must take responsibility to protect our environment, but not to the extent that we allow ours selves to be stampeded into the false and destructive ideology of “World Socialism” that many powerful leaders in Washington D. C. are moving us into. “Global Warming” has been proven over and over again by top scientists, to be a false. In 1979 Global freezing was the big scare tactic of the globalists and United Nations, who want to destroy or national sovereignty by “leveling” us with other nations of the world. We call on the Governor of the State of Utah and our elected state representatives to use the constitutional defense fund to overturn the unconstitutional land grab by the federal government in our state. We call on our elected federal officials to help restore our lands in Utah. Taxation We must repeal the disastrous 16th amendment and replace it with a “national sales tax.” A tax that is fair not only to the poor, but the middle class and the rich as well. Taxes must be reduced, if our families of the future and we the citizens are to prosper and be free. Bailouts We must never support government bailouts to individual, corporation, agency or organization. People and organizations that make bad decisions and are financially or other wise hurt by those decisions, must be allowed the freedom to fail and experience the consequences of those decisions. Other wise, no one will ever take responsibility for their actions and be accountable. The Great State of Utah should rise above the current policy of taking federal bailout money and set an example for the rest of our Republic. Oath of Office All public officials taking the “oath of office” should be required to enter and complete a comprehensive study course on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution taught from the viewpoint of our American Founders. The current oath of office for the State of Utah reads: “I …do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this State and I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity. The last two words, “with fidelity” of that oath, should be replaced with the words “so help me God.” Ethics and Standards We demand honesty, integrity, morality and accountability of our public officials. We will work to expose and stop corruption. Education Parents and/or guardians are responsible for educating their children, not government. The values of Religion, (all religions) morality, and knowledge should be top priority! As our Founders envisioned, education should be administered at the lowest possible level by the Principals, their staff and parents; no one else, including the School Districts. The burden to the taxpayers is too great to keep paying for our School Districts to administer our schools. The millions of dollars saved by eliminating School Districts could go toward the teaching of the children and teachers pay. We should never allow the federal government to determine local school policy, quotas and/ or curriculum. Require that all students in the Great State of Utah, enter and complete a comprehensive study of the basic beliefs of our American Founders, their God inspired Declaration of Independence and Constitution. English is the official language of the State of Utah and we encourage initiatives to help all Utahans become literate in English. We support the prudent and profitable use of school trust lands. Crime Contrary to popular belief, hiring more police officers, enacting more and tougher laws, harsh punishment, legislating longer prison sentences and expanding the criminal justice system, will not reduce the crime rate. Contrary to popular belief, poverty is not the major cause of crime in America. Poor adult examples, peers and choices are; and need to be dealt with in our communities by promoting natural family values, honest work, education and spiritual needs. Fines paid to governments and imprisonment is not the answer to the crime problem. It merely hacks at the leaves and never gets down to the root of the real problem. Restitution or “Reparation” paid back to the victim by the offender, not the taxpayer, plus arbitration and mediation, are good starts in our criminal justice system. Prison Reform Turn our prisons, as much as possible, into positive “centers of learning,” that teach the values of honest work, self-esteem building, personal responsibility, family values and religious principles that teach the how to replace hate with love. Jury The jury is the fundamental institution of liberty, because it is the only anchor yet imagined by man by which government can be held to the principles of its constitution. The jury has the right and the authority to acquit if jurors feel that justice was served. Our Mission To restore Christ’s teachings, the Original Constitution including the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Basic Beliefs of our American Founders back into our culture; for and on behalf of we the people. To declare, the secret to America’s strength is her religious foundation. To elect representatives who are “Statesmen” well grounded in the above genuine and lasting principles inspired by God, not man. To rid our communities, state and nation of “Politicians”, who seek personal power and gain through the current election formula of: elect, elect, tax, tax, spend, spend. Our modern day politicians view themselves as progressives, but in fact, when their ideology is compared to our founder’s ideology it is more akin to Marxism. In comparing both major political parties of today to our founder’s basic beliefs, it clearly shows they are leading us 180 degrees away from our founder’s basic beliefs that provided the best form of government on earth. There is a void in America today of our founders basic belief and our Savior Jesus Christ. For the most part, we don’t teach these lofty principles anymore, not even in our public schools and universities. They have been erased from our American culture. This is not by accident! Those reading this proposal may reject it. They may think it too radical, not politically correct enough in our modern day society, too hard to understand, too impossible to achieve, going backwards or unworkable. I feel confident that if those reading this were will grounded in the basic belief of our founders, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, they would realize the founders not only had it right then, but still have it right for our day. It can work again for all of us because those principles are eternal. The eternal principle of the law of nature and of natures God will prevail to insure our freedom, prosperity, goodness and strength. If not, then poverty and enslavement is our destiny for our posterity. |
